Tidal Power
Fundy Tidal Inc.
FTI is focused on the deployment of marine current technologies in Digby County, Nova Scotia and in particular the communities of Brier Island, Long Island and the Digby Gut to produce tidal power. FTI is headquartered in Westport, Nova Scotia located on Brier Island where the strong tidal currents of the passages between neighboring Long Island and the mainland of Digby Neck have shaped the livelihood of these communities for centuries.
Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)
The 2006 EPRI North America Tidal In Stream Energy Conversion Feasibility Study identified the Grand Passage, Petite Passage and The Digby Gut as favorable locations for tidal energy production.
Ocean Renewable Energy Group (OREG)
The Ocean Renewable Energy Group (OREG) aligns industry, academia and government to ensure that Canada is a leader in providing ocean energy solutions to a world market. OREG is a national organization, with over 85 Canadian and international members.
Offshore Energy Environmental Research (OEER)
The Nova Scotia Department of Energy has commissioned the Offshore Energy Environmental Research Association (OEER) to carry out a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) process on the development of tidal power in the Bay of Fundy.

The Nova Scotia government is currently in the process of creating a Renewable Energy Strategy and a Climate Change Action Plan.
Environmental Goals and Sustainable Prosperity Act
The Act includes commitments to cut greenhouse gases to 10% below 1990 levels by the year 2020, and large reductions in other air pollutants by 2010. To help achieve that goal, our $42.5 million Ecotrust for Clean Air and Climate Change will support projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollution. This funding was provided by the Government of Canada in 2007.
Federation of Canadian Municipalities
The Centre for Sustainable Community Development offers financial services and resources to Canadian municipal governments to improve environmental performance and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
